CB Radios and Antennas

What are the Best CB Radios and Antennas in the Market?

CB radios have a lot of excellent uses especially in cases of accidents and traffic tie ups. Others use it to relay important business messages or when they want to ask for road directions. It’s very important to purchase only the best CB radios and antennas to make sure that effective communication is delivered when we need it.

The first thing that you have to ask yourself when shopping around for CB radios and antennas is whether you want a 10 meter radio or a standard 11 meter unit. It has to be the latter because unless it is a Ham Radios operator licensed through the FCC, it is illegal to own a 10 meter radio. In general, CB radio operators are only allowed to talk on the 11 meter band. With that said, it’s very important to know what the legal CB radios are in the United States. The radios listed below are just the basic legal radios which are allowed without the need to have an amateur radio license. You can use them as long as no modifications have been made.

1.) Cobra 25 LTD, 29 LTD, 148 GTL, 19 DX, 25 NW. 25 WXNW, 29 NW, 29 WXNW

2.) Texas Ranger 696, 121, 966

3.) Uniden PRO 538 with weather, 510 XL, PC 68 XL, PC 68 LTW, PC 78 XL, PC 78 LTW, PC 78 Elite

4.) Galaxy 949, 959

What about your antenna? A lot of drivers opt to buy a decent radio then buy a cheap antenna to go with it. I’m not sure how well this works for them but one thing I know is for sure, your antenna is about 95% of your CB outfit. This means that you both need the best CB radios and antennas and not just one. Most long-time users recommend the Wilson Antenna. If you’re not sure how to install it, have a professional do it for you.
